Samsung Home Hub uses A.I. to make your home smarter

Samsung has been connecting its appliances with the company’s SmartThings ecosystem for years, and now we’re seeing the culmination of those efforts with the Home Hub. Designed to help you run your home more efficiently, the Home Hub’s 8.4-inch tablet brings control of all those SmartThings apps into one central location.

The Home Hub doesn’t just create one place for users to monitor their Samsung appliances. It also uses A.I. to deliver a more customized solution for you and your family. SmartThings learns your preferences to make relevant suggestions. The SmartThings ecosystem works with a myriad of products, not just Samsung. Now that SmartThings also supports Matter , the number of products you can connect through the company’s Home Hub just got larger.

Since Home Hub will be able to connect with every product in your SmartThings ecosystem, you’ll be able to control and monitor just about everything smart in your home. The A.I. mode is designed to help analyze usage patterns and find savings to help reduce energy bills, while SmartAir will focus on the air quality in your home by managing air purifiers and air conditioners. The new Home Care wizard will monitor your smart appliances and let you know when replacements or service are needed.

The tablet has two microphones and speakers, so you can go ahead and ask Bixby to do things for you. You’ll also be able to keep an eye on your pet and streamline making meals.

One thing is clear: Samsung is officially throwing its hat in the ring for control of your home. We’ll just have to wait and see how will it compete against the likes of Apple HomeKit , Google’s Nest , and Amazon Echo devices ?

It’s good to finally see a Samsung-focused home hub, especially after the disappointment of the Galaxy Home Mini. The device had been promised over and over again, but never saw a Western release. This new Home Hub isn’t what we pictured, but it’s a welcome addition to the SmartThings lineup.

The Saros Z70 is the most exciting robot vacuum I’ve ever seen

Out of all the robot vacuum brands available in 2025, Roborock is probably my favorite. The company has been churning out premium, reliable, and powerful robots for years, with their releases consistently landing on our best robot vacuum and mop roundup. CES 2025 was filled with intriguing smart home reveals, but the Roborock Saros Z70 is by far the coolest upcoming device. Designed with a robotic arm that can pick up small obstacles that get in its way, it’s the most innovative robot vacuum I’ve ever seen -- and I’ve never been more excited to see how it shakes up the industry.

Robot vacuums are intended to be autonomous assistants that roam our homes and keep floors clean with little manual intervention. But far too often, this isn’t the case. Whether it be poor sensors that cause the robot to get stuck, suction power that’s inadequate to pick up troublesome debris, or poor obstacle navigation that causes it to get tangled in your phone’s charging cable, some robots simply aren’t as hands-free as expected.

Wyze cameras can now use AI to summarize your motion events

Wyze has officially launched Cam Unlimited Pro, a new subscription that gives you access to several AI-powered features. This includes Descriptive Alerts -- text notifications generated by AI that accurately summarize motion events triggered by your camera. It’s a powerful feature, and one that should give you highly detailed alerts so you can determine if you need to dive into the Wyze app to watch the full video clip.

For example, an old alert from Wyze might say something like “Pet detected by Backyard Cam.” With Descriptive Alerts, that’ll change to “Small white dog playing with tennis ball in backyard at 4:04 PM.” It can also give you accurate descriptions of folks at your front door, letting you know if they’ve dropped off a package or delivered groceries.

Samsung expects to ship Ballie, its futuristic AI robot, later this year

Samsung first revealed Ballie several years ago at CES 2020 -- only for the home bot to go dark, before reemerging with a new design at CES 2024. At CES 2025, Ballie once again took the stage, and Samsung is officially claiming that the adorable robot will be coming to store shelves sometime this year. It’s been a long time coming, but it seems as if Ballie is ready to become your new household companion, and we’re excited about all the possibilities it can bring to your smart home.

Ballie is a home bot that makes liberal use of AI technology. It’s billed as a “self-propelled, autonomous home robot” designed with companionship, health monitoring, and entertainment features to help streamline your day-to-day tasks. Its built-in projector and speakers are the main way it’ll communicate with users, and they seem to be pretty robust.
