If you want to streamline all your vacuuming and mopping tasks, a robot vacuum is a smart solution. These impressive devices have come a long way over the past few years, now offering a premium way to keep your floors clean with little manual input. Not only do they mop and vacuum, but they'll perform maintenance tasks like rinsing and drying their mops, emptying their dustbins, and eliminating hair tangles.

Of course, not all robot vacuums perform to the same level — and while some are excellent additions to your home, others aren't quite up to the task. That makes it important to plan ahead and do some serious research before pulling the trigger. After all, these devices can cost thousands of dollars. Some newer models even inch over $2,000. Buying a robot vacuum isn't a decision to take lightly, as making the wrong purchase could put a serious dent in your budget without doing much to make your home any cleaner.

Thankfully, brands like Roborock, Narwal, Ecovacs, and Dreame are churning out impressive products that are all but guaranteed to keep your floors spotless. We've tested dozens of robot vacuums over the years — and we know what it takes to keep your house clean. These models stand out from the pack, thanks to their advanced navigation features, impressive suction numbers, and (most importantly) their ability to clean your home autonomously.

Keep in mind that new robot vacuums are released at remarkable speed. So if you don't see anything that catches your eye, wait a few months and you'll probably find something new. The robot vacuum world moves fast — in fact, we've recently seen a vacuum with a robotic arm that picks up obstacles. Before you know it, we might have ones that can navigate stairs.

Looking for more smart devices to streamline your life? Check out a smart fragrance diffuser , which is one of our favorite smart home gadgets of 2025 (so far). We've also put together a roundup of the best smart home devices in general, covering everything from smart locks and security cameras to smart thermostats and smart lights.

Roborock Saros 10R

Pros
  • Impressive navigation skills
  • Detachable spinning mops
  • Highly customizable
  • Slim new design
  • Tons of suction
Cons
  • Expensive
  • Less suction than the Saros 10
Specification:
Suction 20,000
Lifting Mop Yes
Self-cleaning dock Yes

The Roborock Saros 10R is the latest and greatest from Roborock, offering 20,000 Pa of suction, new mapping technology, and mopping pads that can automatically detach to prevent water from tracking onto your carpets. It's an incredible device, and folks unphased by its price tag will find it to be the best robot vacuum on the market.

The Saros 10R is equipped with the same mapping and obstacle avoidance technology inside the upcoming Saros Z70 — you know, the wild robot from CES 2025 that features a built-in arm. Testing found it to do an excellent job of not just mapping, but also avoiding obstacles and ensuring it reaches even the most cramped corners of your home.

Another huge win for the Saros 10R is its detachable mopping pads. Depending on your settings in the app, these can be automatically left behind in the docking station when the robot is vacuuming. That makes it excellent for homes with plush carpets, ensuring they stay nice and dry. The mops can also lift up a few millimeters if you'd rather not detach them entirely.

Prefer the performance of mopping plates? The Saros 10 is very similar to the Saros 10R, though it forgoes two spinning mops for a vibrating mopping plate. It also uses older mapping technology, but outputs up to 22,000Pa, making it an excellent alternative to the 10R.

On the other hand, the premium Roborock Saros Z70 isn't worth your money. Its main attraction is a robotic arm that can pick up socks, slippers, and other small obstacles, resulting in better cleaning coverage. But the arm is slow to operate and has too many limitations to make it a good upgrade from the Saros 10 or 10R. Keep your eyes peeled, however, as we think the underlying tech is pretty intriguing, and its successor could fix many of its issues.

dreame l40 ultra review
Dreame

Dreame L40 Ultra

Pros
  • Eye-catching design
  • Automatically removes mopping pads
  • Swinging side brush and mop
  • Impressive navigation skills
Cons
  • Less suction than competitors
Specification:
Suction 11,000
Lifting Mop Yes
Self-cleaning dock Yes

The Dreame L40 Ultra is a powerful robot vacuum and mop combo, combining 11,000 Pa of suction with an innovative mopping system that works great on all types of hard floors. The big appeal is its ability to automatically remove its mopping pads while docked, allowing it to travel on carpets without dragging dirt through the rest of your home.

When the mopping pads are installed, they generate downward pressure to better clean floors. One of the pads can even swing outward to reach cramped areas near baseboards and furniture. Its sensors and obstacle detection are top of the line, ensuring it rarely (if ever) gets stuck on a dog toy or nearby cords.

Obstacle avoidance also serves to lift and deactive its main roller brush and side brush when liquids are detected, allowing them to stay clean and dry in even the messiest of kitchens.

It's quite expensive at $1,500, and some competitors are now offering more suction. But those are minor caveats on an otherwise stellar product.

Narwal Freo Z Ultra

Pros
  • Unique dock design
  • Quiet operation
  • Massive dustbin
  • Adjustable hot water mop washing
Cons
  • Expensive
  • Mops only lift 12mm
Specification:
Suction 12.000
Lifting Mop Yes
Self-cleaning dock Yes

The Narwal Freo Z Ultra is highly automated, holding up to 120 days of debris in its dust bag and performing a self-cleaning after each mopping run. It’s base is also rather unique, featuring a white and silver dual-tone design that helps it stand out next to other robot vacuums. But if you’re a pet owner, the real treat is the Freo Z Ultra’s quiet operating volume, as it can run at just 58 decibels — compared to 70 decibels for most of the competition.

Neither of my dogs were scared of the Freo Z Ultra, which is quite the achievement considering they’re scared of leaves blowing in the wind. Coupled with excellent detection for pet toys and accidents, it’s an easy recommendation for homes with fur babies.

Aside from being highly automated and great around pets, the Freo Z Ultra does a great job of sucking up pet fur. It’s rated to prevent tangles and cleans surprisingly deep into carpets, so even if your dog loves to shed, you won’t have to worry about fur lingering around on your floors. It also incorporates two side brushes to grab fur and ensure it’s pulled in by the large main vacuum brush. When you consider everything it has to offer, it’s clear the Narwal Freo Z Ultra is the best robot vacuum for pet owners.

Also, note that a $200 off coupon is available for the Narwal Freo Z Ultra . That means you can always snag it for just $1,300 — making it all the more enticing.

Ecovacs

Ecovacs Deebot T30S Combo

Pros
  • Swinging mops cover more ground
  • Admirable vacuuming performance
  • Self-cleaning docking station
  • Included handheld vacuum
Cons
  • Navigation frustrations
  • Noisy, slow operation
Specification:
Suction 11,000Pa
Lifting Mop Yes
Self-cleaning dock Yes

If you're not interested in robot vacuum models that connect directly to your plumbing (these are often expensive and require serious DIY skills), consider swapping over to the Ecovacs Deebot T30S Combo. Not only does it offer many of the same features, but it's much more affordable. Capable of cleaning carpets and mopping floors in a single run, it's a good choice for homes with multiple flooring styles. It even incorporates a swinging mop into its design, enabling it to push the mop outward to clean around furniture or into crevices often missed by lesser robots. Once cleaning is done, it'll rinse and dry its mopping pads and empty its dustbin. For anything unreachable by the robot (like stairs or furniture), the T30S Combo comes with a separate handheld vacuum.

iLife

iLife V5s Pro

Pros
  • Affordable
  • Low-profile design
  • Long battery life
Cons
  • No auto-empty dock
  • Manually switch cleaning tasks
Specification:
Suction N/A
Lifting Mop No
Self-cleaning dock No

When it comes to landing a robot vacuum and mop combo at one of the best prices available, you’ll want to check out the iLife V5s Pro. This is a great budget option, and it leans heavily on minimalism to get there. It has a super-slim design that will come in handy if you have any low-rise furniture. With a lower price point does come some missing features, however, and this robot vacuum and mop combo doesn’t come with auto-emptying functionality. It’s little to give up for a budget option, though, so dive into the iLife V5s Pro if you’re looking to save a few bucks.

narwal freo z10 review the best for less robot docked
Narwal

Narwal Freo Z10

Pros
  • Unique side brush design
  • Excellent mopping performance
  • 120-day base station emptying
  • Anti-tangle vacuum system
Cons
  • Competitors have more suction
  • Lacks self-cleaning of Freo Z Ultra
Specification:
Suction 15,000
Lifting Mop Yes
Self-cleaning dock Yes

Honestly, the Narwal Freo Z10 is a great choice for homes of all sizes. With a unique side brush design that minimizes tangles, powerful mopping performance, and a self-washing base station, it’s a highly automated device. It also has a dustbin that holds up to 120 days of debris — and if you’re living in a smaller home or studio, you’re more likely to reach that lofty number. That means introducing the Z10 to a studio or cozy home will make it remarkably autonomous, requiring little input when going about its daily tasks.

The Freo Z10 offers 15,000 Pa of suction, which provides enough power for most tasks (even if some other products on this list offer much more). Still, considering the reasonable price of the Freo Z10, it’s a pretty impressive spec. Obstacle avoidance is impressive, too, deftly navigating clothes, pet toys, and two mobile dogs during extensive in-home testing. It does, however, still get caught up on cords and cables. That’s a common complaint for all robot vacuums, so we won’t hold it against the Freo Z10.

If your small home features lots of hard floors, you’ll want to make use of the robot’s ability to automatically dispense detergent. Using this will result in a better overall clean, easily eliminating stains and providing a superior clean to water alone. The Narwal Freo Z10 gets you tons of premium features without the hefty price of many competitors. It falls behind in a few areas, but if you’re living in a smaller home and want truly automated cleanings, the Freo Z10 is a great choice.

ecovacs deebot x9 pro omni robot vacuum review superior mopping skills
Jon Bitner / Digital Trends

Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro Omni

Pros
  • Innovative mopping system
  • Retractable brushes and mops
  • Self-cleaning dock
  • Anti-tangle vacuuming
Cons
  • Expensive
  • Too tall to fit under furniture
Specification:
Suction 16,600Pa
Lifting Mop Yes
Self-cleaning dock Yes

If your primary concern is cleaning hard floors, then the Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro Omni needs to be at the top of your list. That's because it's equipped with a roller mop instead of mopping pads or a mopping plate, allowing it to provide you with a superior clean that surpasses just about everything else on the market.

What makes the X9 Pro Omni's roller mop so compelling is its ability to automatically clean itself as it's cleaning your floors. Unlike most other robots (which can only wet their mops), this one actually pulls dirt and debris off the roller while it glides across your floor. It does this by using not just an array of water sprayers, but also a series of scrapers that squeegee gunk off the roller as it rotates. It's then diverted to a dirty water holding tank. That means the mop is always clean, and you won't have to worry about it tracking dirt through your home.

Aside from its impressive mopping system, you'll get a stellar vacuuming experience. Ecovacs outfitted the X9 Pro Omni with something known as BLAST. This essentially works by maximizing airflow, allowing it to knock dust and debris loose, then suck it up without requiring heaps of suction. Testing showed this to be an excellent technique, and it even worked on ultra-plush carpets where dust has a tendency to get buried deep in the fibers. Another nice touch is the robot's ability to lift its mops and brushes. When a spill is detected, its main brush and side brush will retract, ensuring they stay dry. When carpet is detected, the mop will retract.

There's a lot to love about the Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro Omni, and if you're living in a space with heaps of hard floors, it's an easy recommendation.

How to choose a robot vacuum and mop combo

There’s a lot to consider when it comes to choosing the right robot vacuum and mop combo for your needs. With so many option on the market, some great ways to narrow down your selection is by considering what you want out of the device. Do you want it to clean while you’re out of the house? How large is your home? Do you have pets, children, or another reason for high foot traffic?

Consider your home

Your home is probably going to be the most important factor when ensuring you get the right robot vacuum and mop combo. The size of your house is an obvious consideration, but you’ll also want to take a good look around about the surface of your floors. Most robot vacuums will be able to clean up any kind of surface, but some will be better at hard surfaces than carpets, and some will be better at cleaning up carpets than hardwood and tile.

The amount of foot traffic your floors see is also something to think about, as pet owners and people with kids may want to consider a robot vacuum and mop combo with stronger suction and better build quality.

Smart features

While there are a lot of smart home devices to consider, robot vacuums are among the most popular because of their smarts. Many robot vacuums will have the capability to scan your home and create a virtual map for itself, which allows them to avoid things like furniture, pets, and stairs. Some robot vacuums will even go a step further, and with these models the virtual map can be used to set cleaning zones and cleaning schedules, allowing you to get more precise with the robot’s automation. At the very least, we'd recommend getting something that lets you set a cleaning schedule, offers automatic dustbin emptying, and allows you to set restricted zones.

Cleaning capabilities

You wouldn’t want to get a traditional vacuum that doesn’t do a good job of cleaning up, and this is the case with a robot vacuum as well. While many robot vacuum and mop combos will focus on smart features as their main selling point, you’ll want to be sure they can get the job done when it actually comes to cleaning. In general, the more you spend, the better the cleaning. This comes in the form of increased suction power, improved anti-tangle designs, innovative mopping techniques, and brushes that do a better job of clearing debris from deep within carpet fibers.

We’ve put several models to our own personal use, but we have also spent years writing about and recommending dozens of different models. We’ve filtered our selections for the best robot vacuum and mop combos through this expertise, with extra consideration placed on newer releases and affordability.
