Audio-Technica’s new ATH-CKS30TW+ wireless earbuds have one of the most awkward names we’ve seen in a while, but it might not matter: They have active noise cancellation (ANC), transparency mode, and a compact charging case for just $99, making them the venerable Japanese brand’s most affordable noise-canceling wireless earbuds so far. You can grab these budget buds starting September 18 at audio-technica.com in a translucent black finish.

With the CKS30TW+, Audio-Technica is clearly going for a set of easy-to-use everyday wear wireless earbuds. They have an IP55 rating for water and dust protection, making them ideal for running or workouts, and their transparency mode means you should be able to hear the world around you when it counts.

Audio-Technica says that you should get about 7.5 hours of playtime on a single charge and that the compact charging case — the smallest one it has ever built — carries an additional 12.5 hours for a total of 20 hours.

In typical Audio-Technica fashion, these earbuds are designed primarily for high-quality audio. And while they don’t support hi-res audio codecs or spatial audio , the company says that the 9mm drivers deliver deep bass, which can be adjusted using five equalizer presets: Bass Boost Deep, Bass Boost Beat, Dynamic, Vocal, and Clear.

These can be selected within the Audio-Technica Connect app, along with adjustments for touch sensor sensitivity. The app offers access to a low-latency mode, an earbud locator function, and a Soundscape function, which plays “soothing sounds of nature or other calming sounds to help users concentrate, meditate, and rejuvenate.”

The CKS30TW+ use Bluetooth 5.1 and also have support for Bluetooth Multipoint and Google Fast Pair, however, they don’t work with Bluetooth LE Audio and these earbuds can’t be used with Auracast .

Sony says goodbye to buttons on its budget-friendly ANC earbuds
Sony WF-C710N wireless earbuds.

Sony has announced the WF-C710N, the latest version of its most affordable set of noise-canceling wireless earbuds. The price is unchanged at $120, but Sony says it has made welcome improvements in a number of areas, and the buds feature a new selection of color choices, including pink, black, white, and a transparent version called Glass Blue. One change that might not be as welcome is the decision to swap physical buttons for touch controls. They can be preordered today on Sony's website or Amazon, with shipping beginning at the end of March.

The basic specs remain the same as the WF-C700N, which Sony has now discounted as low as $85: the earbuds use 5mm dynamic drivers, they can optionally enable Sony's DSEE audio upscaling system, they have ANC and transparency modes, and offer IPX4 protection from sweat and splashes of water. There's also Bluetooth Mutlipoint for two simultaneous device connections.

In a bizarre twist, AirPods Pro are cheaper in Canada … for now
Apple AirPods Pro 2 inside their charging case.

Unless you've been hiding under a rock, it's been impossible to escape the headlines around the new tariffs imposed on Canadian, Mexican, and Chinese imports to the U.S. (or the many retaliatory tariffs that these countries have imposed on U.S. products). The expectation is that these tariffs will make certain goods more expensive, regardless where you live. But in a bizarre twist of timing, tariffs, and currency exchange rates, one particularly popular Apple product is cheaper in Canada than in the U.S.: the AirPods Pro 2.

Apple sells the AirPods Pro 2 in the U.S. for $249 and $329 ($CAD) in Canada. A quick look at current currency conversion rates shows that despite the higher number in Canada, that's actually the cheaper of the two prices. According to RBC Bank's currency calculator, if you hold U.S. dollars right now, you can buy $329 CAD for just $236 USD -- a $13-dollar savings.

Final Audio’s latest wireless earbuds are shockingly affordable
Final Audio ZE3000 SV.

Boutique Japanese audio company, Final Audio, has just announced its latest wireless earbuds and they're priced at a surprisingly accessible $100. The ZE3000 SV are effectively the second generation of the company's $149 ZE3000 -- some of the best-sounding earbuds I've ever tested under $200 -- and yet they appear to have many improvements and a much lower price. They'll be available on Amazon and Final Audio's website in the coming days.

While the ZE3000 are notable for their audio quality, Final neglected to include many of the features we've come to expect on wireless earbuds, like noise cancellation and Bluetooth Multipoint. They can do hi-res audio, but only via Qualcomm's aptX Adaptive codec, which isn't available on the most popular smartphones.
