Batman will get the Telltale treatment in 2016

Episodic adventure game developer Telltale Games made key announcements about two new games coming out next year at The Game Awards 2015 Thursday night. The developer released a short teaser announcing a new Batman game, done in their episodic adventure style. Telltale did not reveal the game’s formal title, but said the first episode of the game will come to digital platforms on “home consoles,” PC, Mac, and mobile devices in 2016.

Batman is the latest in a long list of high-profile game adaptations from Telltale. In addition to its critically acclaimed series based on The Walking Dead , Telltale has made games based on film and tv franchises, including Jurassic Park , Back to The Future and Game of Thrones . More recently, the company has moved on to making story-intensive side-stories for other game franchises, such as Tales of the Borderlands and Minecraft: Story Mode .

“At Telltale, we’ve been honored to bring our unique approach to interactive storytelling to some of the biggest entertainment franchises in the world, and we’re excited to announce that we’ll soon be exploring what it means to be Batman in an all-new series starting next year,” Telltale Games CEO Kevin Bruner said in a statement published on the Telltale blo g . “This iteration of Batman will give fans a first-hand opportunity to dive deeper into the complex life and mind of Bruce Wayne, the duality of his own identity, and the struggle of responsibility in saving a city overcome with corruption and villainy.”

Telltale also announced that the first episode of The Walking Dead: Michonne will be released in February, 2016. As Polygon pointed out, Telltale said the game would be released in Fall 2015 after the game was announced at E3 in June, but did not hit that target.

Unlike past Telltale’s past game based on The Walking Dead franchise, Michonne will follow an arc tied directly to the comics. The three-episode mini-series will take place during the events from The Walking Dead , issues 126-139. Telltale has confirmed they are working on a third “season” of their own The Walking Dead series, but has not released any details beyond the fact that it will be “considerably larger” than parts one and two.

How to join the Battlefield 6 beta
Battlefield 6

We got our first good look at how warfare is evolving in Battlefield 6 thanks to a series of new multiplayer trailers that have inspired a lot of confidence after the resounding disappointment that was 2042. However, with video games, seeing isn't believing -- playing is. EA claims this will be the most impressive entry yet, with multiple studios contributing to development under the banner of Battlefield Studios. The return of the class system, focus on 64-player battles, and unreal levels of destruction all look promising, but we will only know for sure when we get our hands on the game. The release date is set for October 10, but you can enlist early to play in the beta.

Pokémon Gen 10 needs to be a reboot
Key art from the 3DS game Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon.

2026 will mark the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise, which is a sentence that makes me woefully uncomfortable with my age. Personal insecurities aside, most of the Pokémon community believes this is the perfect year to announce the 10th generation mainline title for the Switch 2. Gen 9, Scarlet and Violet, will have been out for four years by then, and it would give this year's Pokémon Legends: Z-A a little time to breathe. I've never been a big fan of the annualization of Pokémon games, but that's a topic for another day.

I grew up as a diehard Pokémon fan starting with the GBA titles, but slowly fell off the series over time. Part of that was age, sure, but when I realized there was another monster-catching RPG coming this year that had me feeling all those old sensations of excitement and wonder again, I knew it wasn't just nostalgia. As a thought experiment, I wondered what Pokémon Gen 10 could do to get me excited for this once beloved series again. The answer was a simple one.

Is Battlefield 6 cross-platform?
A team of tanks and helicopters in war.

Every online multiplayer shooter these days needs to have cross-platform support to stand a chance, but Battlefield 6 might as well be dead on arrival without this functionality. This is because, unlike games like Borderlands 4 or Gears of War: Reloaded, multiplayer matches in Battlefield 6 will feature 64-player warzones. That's a huge lobby to fill if the game is only matching you with other players on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, or PC. Before you pick your class and prepare to experience the destructive multiplayer waiting in Battlefield 6, I'll give you the sitrep on its cross-platform support.
