How to tame a horse

Horses spawn in plains and savannas in herds of two to six. These are mostly flat, grassy areas with a few scattered trees. There are a variety of colors — white, chestnut, black, gray, brown, and flaxen chestnut — with a handful of different markings that a horse can spawn with, and herds are likely to be similar. While it’s not difficult to find a herd of horses in the world, you may have to do some hunting to find a specific color if you have a preference.

You can also find horses in stables in generated villages if you’re up for stealing one instead of finding one in the wild.

Step 1: Taming a horse is quite simple -- you just need to keep mounting the horse again and again until it likes you. Just press Use on the horse with nothing eqipped.

Step 2: On your first go, the horse will likely buck you off. But keep trying! Each time the horse bucks you off, get back on.

Step 3: Eventually a cloud of hearts will appear over the horse, signifying that it is tamed.

How to use a tamed horse

Now that you’ve tamed a horse, it’s time to ride it

Step 1: Find a saddle and equip it to your horse.

Step 2: Now when you mount your horse, you will be able to fully control its movements.

Horses can jump much higher and farther than your character. Hold down the jump button to charge up a bigger jump. A player can use any item while riding a horse.

You can also equip your horse with its own armor. You can craft your own horse armor, find it in certain chests in the game, or purchase it from a villager. You can’t enchant the armor like you can your own, but you can dye it.

Be careful when adventuring with your horse — that armor isn’t just for show, and it can still be damaged by enemies.

Halo desperately needs to be rebooted
Master Chief an an an elite dueling in the woods.

2026 will mark the 25th anniversary of the Halo franchise, a milestone very few franchises hit without some major stumbles along the way. Halo is no exception here. The original title was the definition of a system seller for the original Xbox, and was a massive leap in proving that FPS games could work on consoles. Halo 2 set the bar for online play, and Halo 3 pushed things further with Forge and comprehensive gameplay recording and sharing. From a narrative perspective, the first three games appealed to the more casual fan who just wanted some aliens to shoot or to jump into some online deathmatches while also hinting at a deep well of mysteries in the wider universe.

Between the current state of the narrative and the declining relevance the series has been experiencing with controversial and lackluster releases since changing hands from Bungie to 343 Industries (now Halo Studios), Halo is carrying too much baggage. A reboot would give this series a fresh start and a chance to reclaim its former glory.

How to cancel PlayStation Plus
A person holds up a PS5 controller.

Sony's PlayStation Plus subscription service has evolved over the years, initially beginning as a way to get new games each month, then giving access to online multiplayer. Now, the service has built upon both of those features, functioning a lot more like Game Pass Ultimate and offering a lengthy catalog of games for a monthly fee, although it doesn't add its own first-party games to the service right away. It still gives you new games each month and enables online play just as before, but now you have the option between Essential, Extra, and Premium for various prices and features.

As subscription prices have gone up, PS Plus might be a bit too much to stay subscribed to all year. Sony doesn't make it simple to cancel, and there's a somewhat sinister auto-renew change that may end up costing you.

Katamari Damacy gave me the strength to keep rolling on
The king and queen of all cosmos over the earth.

Games can be a great tool for getting through hard times, and at this moment it feels like the times couldn't be harder. The current social, political, and economic climate is more than enough to send any one of us down a dark spiral. Of course, life has a way of piling on and, in my case, it came in the form of a concerning diagnosis.

I am still waiting on more tests, but after years of searching for the source of some elevated blood levels we have figured out that I have a mold in my body and brain. While I'm already on a treatment plan, hearing that you have a foreign pathogen in your brain isn't exactly comforting. My natural instinct was to turn to games to help get me through this low point and restore some hope. I typically like to pick games that directly attack the issues I'm dealing with in real life as a way to work through them. In this case, I considered going back to Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth to revisit Kiryu's approach to mortality, but thought that might be a bit too overdramatic. The Last of Us also came to mind, but mostly as a dark joke considering my specific condition.
