PlayStation Plus Premium is getting some new games for its Classics catalog for December, and as it’s nearly time for the official PlayStation 30th anniversary, it’s set to be big.

PlayStation announced the special additions to PlayStation Plus for December on Wednesday that includes three classic games: Sly 2: Band of Thieves , Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves , and Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy . The company also stated in the announcement blog post that they’ll have “more news on the full PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Premium lineups later,” which seems to indicate there will be even more games coming to the service.

The two Sly Cooper games, developed by Sucker Punch , were already available in the Classics catalog as part of The Sly Collection , although it was removed sometime later. The first game, Sly Cooper and the Thievius Racoonus is still playable with the subscription. So with these new additions, the original trilogy is all back together again. The two new games also seem to be the PlayStation 2 versions, which will please fans of the originals.

PlayStation is also adding the promised game trials and more to the service for the anniversary celebration. So far, there’s a game trial for the new shooter Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 , a free online multiplayer weekend for games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and FC 25 , and esports tournaments that weekend for EA Sports titles and Guilty Gear Strive .

There’s also the games coming to PlayStation Plus Essential tier in December. The co-op puzzle adventure It Takes Two has been everywhere since it launched to near universal acclaim in 2021 and went on to win multiple game of the year awards , and it’s coming back to PlayStation Plus next month after being removed earlier this year. There’s also the strategy game Aliens: Dark Descent , which coincidentally was also added to Xbox Game Pass in November. Finally, there’s the Pokémon-like MMO Temtem . While there is no new content being developed for it, it’s still online and available while the developers work on the spinoff Temtem: Swarm .

PS6 Everything we know about the PlayStation 6 so far
A PS5 DualSense controller.

It sounds like we're going to learn more about a next-generation PlayStation sooner rather than later now that we have the PS5 Pro in our hands.

In early 2024, Sony Senior Vice President Naomi Matsuoka told Bloomberg the following: "Looking ahead, PS5 will enter the latter stage of its life cycle." While she didn't outright say that a PlayStation 6 is in the works, we can assume that the company is already looking ahead at its next console.

3 new PlayStation Plus games to play this weekend (May 30-June 1)

Under normal circumstances, we would have to wait until next week to get our drop of new PlayStation Plus games, but this is a special occasion. We're currently right at the start of the Days of Play event where Sony celebrates with tons of community events and huge discounts on PS5 games and accessories. The icing on the cake is that we're not only getting four new games for Essential members, but an additional four for Extra and two more for Premium, with several already available. That's a lot to keep up with if you weren't prepared for it, which is where I come in. We will have to wait for most of the games until Tuesday, but here are a few new games you can start playing over this weekend to start the celebrations early.

3 PlayStation Plus games to play this weekend (March 28-30)
A hunter looking at a misty village in Bloodborne

There's a lot happening in the world of video games as we finish up March and roll into April, but not so much in the world of PlayStation. While Nintendo fans got a Direct this week, and there's another for the Switch 2 right around the corner, we're waiting for the next batch of new PlayStation Plus games to tide us over until big games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 arrive. While Xbox fans are enjoying Atomfall on Xbox and Nintendo fans are making their predictions for the next Direct, I have found the best PlayStation Plus games you can play this weekend to hold you over until we see the next batch of upcoming PS5 games.

Bloodborne - Official Story Trailer: The Hunt Begins | PS4

No one needs an excuse to play Bloodborne, but if you wanted one, here you go. This week marks the 10-year anniversary of this masterclass Souls game that we still can't get out of our minds. This was the first major departure from the normal Dark Souls formula of defensive play that rewarded fast and aggressive styles. The game still feels tight and responsive despite being at 30 FPS, and the atmosphere is still the best FromSoftware has ever made. Now that it has been a full decade of us begging for a remaster, remake, PC port, or even just a PS5 patch, it is time to put our hopes to bed and accept this is all we will get and enjoy it for what it is.
