Splitgate 2 ‘s open alpha test will run from February 27 and end on March 2, giving you an entire weekend to see everything it has to offer.

The content we know will be included in this test will be a new 8v8v8 multi-team portal warfare mode on a map that is 20 times larger than any previous map. There will also be multiple variations of king of the hill, Splitball, which is a mixture of Oddball and capture the flag, and Firecracker, a new spin on search and destroy. Team deathmatch and Hotzone will also be back with some improvements.

Three maps will be featured, plus access to a total of 24 weapons, nine pieces of equipment, and map-spcific power weapons to pick up.

While that sounds like a lot, the developers have stated that everything encompassed in this alpha test is still less than half of what will be available in the full release.

How to join the FBC: Firebreak closed beta test
A crew in FBC: Firebreak.

We're just weeks away from the release of Remedy's upcoming video game set in the Control universe, FBC: Firebreak. Unlike Control or Alan Wake 2, FBC: Firebreak isn't a single player third-person shooter but a co-op focused multiplayer game. The trailers how off a distinctly Remedy-style game, with strange events and monsters around every corner, but if you were drawn to the studio's past games for being single-player experiences, you might be unsure about this one. Thankfully, you have the chance to dive into the Oldest House early by signing up for the closed technical test. Here's our memo on how to do it.

Splitgate 2 announces an open beta and an “infinite” number of maps
Looking through a portal in Splitgate 2.

If you haven't tried out Splitgate 2 yet, you'll have a chance next month with the start of its open beta. The beta begins on May 22 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, along with PS4 and Xbox One, all with full crossplay support (and that means no lack of players.) Developer 1047 Games hasn't said how long the beta will last, but they did tease some of the new content.

The open beta will introduce new weapons, bringing the in-game total to more than 25 different choices. New game modes are also joining the beta, including Takedown from the first game. Think of it like an elimination-style match where you have to eliminate the entire enemy team before they can respawn; the mode can often come down to a frenetic game of hide-and-seek toward the end, where the only surviving player tries to last long enough for reinforcements to spawn.
