Grand Theft Auto 6’s second trailer just dropped, and it was worth the wait

Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2

Rockstar Games released a second trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 on Tuesday morning following news of the game’s delay last week. The two and a half minute trailer is entirely story-driven, giving us a much deeper look at its Bonnie and Clyde narrative.

This is the first look we’ve gotten at Grand Theft Auto 6 since December 2023 . Back then, Rockstar revealed a trailer that acted as an reintroduction to Vice City, the open-world game’s Miami-inspired setting. That clip largely focused on Florida satire, with references to real stories from the state. The new trailer gives us a deeper look at the crime saga’s new story, as well as a bigger introduction to its dual protagonists.

The trailer begins with Jason picking up Lucia from prison. The two vow to start a new life together over beers at the beach. It doesn’t take long for them to get back into the criminal world though, as the trailer has them on the run from the cops in typical GTA fashion. It’s a very cinematic trailer that makes the sequel look like Miami Vice meets Bonnie and Clyde .

It’s a visually impressive clip too, showing off incredibly detailed interiors bathed in golden Florida sunshine. Fine print in the trailer notes that it was entirely captured on PS5.

On top of all that, Rockstar updated the game’s website with a buffet of new information. The official site now includes full character bios for its cast and descriptions for every playable area in the game. The big revelation here is that GTA6 will go beyond Vice City. Players can go to Leonida Keys, the swampy Grassrivers, the industrial town of Ambrosia, and more. The website features tons of new screenshots showing off each area.

Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on May 26, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. It was originally slated to release this fall, but was delayed last week .

Grand Theft Auto 6 is just the tip of the iceberg for video games in 2025

A lot of long-awaited video games will finally release in 2025. But don’t let them be the only ones to grab your attention this year.

If all goes according to plan, 2025 will contain the launches of Nintendo’s Switch successor, Metroid Prime 4:Beyond, and Grand Theft Auto VI. Other high-profile games like Elden Ring: Neightreign, Doom: The Dark Ages, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, and Ghost of Yotei flesh out Digital Trends’ most anticipated games of 2025 list. It’s likely that these AAA adventures, and whatever Nintendo decides to deliver with its new console, will dominate gaming conversations throughout the year.

On a personal note, 2024 was one of my favorite years for video games in recent memory. It may not have been filled with giant franchise sequels, but it was loaded with surprises that made for an eclectic year. If all goes according to plan, that's going to change in 2025. And that's something I didn't even realize until I sat down to write this list of Digital Trends' most anticipated games of 2025.

While only a handful of big games have release dates currently, publishers have some major releases slated to release at some point in 2025. That's, of course, headlined by Grand Theft Auto 6, but there's so much beyond that (so long as delays don't derail plans). And this is all before factoring in the Nintendo Switch 2's impending launch, which will undoubtedly fill the year with some top-tier games that are currently a deep secret. It's difficult to narrow a "most anticipated" list down to just 10 games this year, but I've done my best here. These are the games that should be on your radar in 2025 -- at minimum!

Grand Theft Auto Trilogy developer is not happy about this change in latest update

The poorly received Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy -- The Definitive Edition got a surprise and much-needed update earlier this week, but not everybody is happy with the results. After the update went live on PC and consoles, fans noticed quickly that Grove Street Games, the studio that developed Definitive Edition with Rockstar Games, had been removed from the splash screen ahead of the start menu. Now Grove Street CEO Thomas Williamson has spoken out on X about the situation.

"Speaking entire hypothetically: It's a [jerk] move to remove primary developers from credits in an update, especially when an update includes hundreds of fixes that were provided by those developers that stayed out of players' hands for years," Williamson wrote.
