Gears of War: Reloaded brings another Xbox classic to PlayStation 5

The Gears of War you remember is coming back , remastered and optimized for modern consoles, including the PlayStation 5. Titled Gears of War: Reloaded , it launches on August 26, 2025, for just $40 on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and Steam, and will be a day one release for Xbox Game Pass.

Gears of War: Reloaded will support crossplay and cross-progression across all platforms, and any fans who already owned a digital copy of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will receive a free upgrade to Gears of War: Reloaded . The remastered version of the classic third-person shooter will support 4K resolution, 120 FPS, and cross-platform multiplayer. It also supports HDR and variable refresh rates and promises zero loading screens during the campaign. The graphics have been upscaled to take full advantage of modern hardware and make the games look better than ever.

If you don’t want to fight the Locust Horde all on your own, Gears of War: Reloaded will also support two-player campaign co-op. Multiplayer modes will support up to eight players at once, and you don’t need a Microsoft account to play. However, if you already have one, signing in with a Microsoft account lets you carry your progression in both campaign and multiplayer across platforms.

Gears of War: Reloaded contains all the content available in Gears of War: Ultimate Edition , including all post-launch DLC. That includes an extra campaign act, all multiplayer modes, as well as the full roster of characters and all cosmetics available through progression. For diehard fans, this is more than enough content to keep you entertained until Gears of War: E-Day comes out.

Helldivers 2 was a massive hit right out of the gate for developer Arrowhead Game Studios, and the game's popularity has only grown since it launched on PS5 and PC in 2024. Shedding the top-down perspective of the first Helldivers, this cooperative third-person shooter took the world by surprise by being equally hilarious, fun, and challenging. While it did suffer from a bit of controversy over having a PSN requirement on PC, all those issues have been resolved, and the game has gotten some major content updates at no extra cost. It is a prime example of a cross-platform game done right.

Helldivers 2 is finally coming to another platform

Unless you've had your head under a rock looking for Terminids, you've probably heard about the phenomena that is Helldivers 2. Since its launch, the game has only been available on PlayStation 5 and PC, but Xbox players will be able to join the fight for Super Earth starting on August 26. Preorders start now, with in-game goodies awaiting early buyers.

In a statement to Xbox Wire, game director Mikael Eriksson said, “We know gamers have been asking for this for some time and we are so excited to bring more Helldivers into our game. We have so much more in store for the future months and years – and the more players we have the more stories we can tell! The fight for Super Earth has only just begun.”

The last weekend of the month is always a little awkward as a PlayStation fan. We know what new PlayStation Plus games are coming next week, but we still have this weekend to fill before they arrive. A lot of us will be enjoying a nice, long adventure in Death Stranding 2, but those who aren't into that style of game aren't out of luck. I'm digging into the backlog a bit here, but for good reasons. I hand-picked these games for you all this weekend, each for a different reason, but as a happy coincidence, they all share a bit of a dark theme. That isn't to say they're all horror games (though one of them sure is) because I always make sure to give you a good spread of genre options. I won't waste any more time and hit you with the best PlayStation Plus games to play this weekend.
