Netflix’s Terminator Zero starts the war against Skynet in new trailer

Humanity battles Skynet in the new trailer for Terminator Zero , the upcoming anime series for Netflix .

In 1997, Skynet rose to power, beginning the all-out war between man and machine. That same year, scientist Malcolm Lee (André Holland) believed the answer to saving humanity was an AI system called Kokoro (Rosario Dawson). Developed by Malcolm, Kokoro is Japan’s answer to Skynet, and if brought online, it will calculate if human beings are worth saving.

In 2022, machines have destroyed nearly all of humanity, with only a few survivors left. Skynet sends the Terminator (Timothy Olyphant), a cybernetic assassin, to 1997 to kill Malcolm. The resistance counters with Eiko (Sonoya Mizuno), a soldier sent from the future to stop Malcolm from launching Kokoro and protect his family from the Terminator.

Terminator Zero also stars Ann Dowd as The Prophet, the philosophical leader of the Resistance.

Terminator Zero is created by Mattson Tomlin, a writer who contributed to the script for Matt Reeves’ The Batman and penned Project Power . Tomlin is the writer, showrunner, and executive producer of Terminator Zero . The series is directed by Masashi Kudō, the director best known for his work on the anime series Bleach .

The anime series is executive produced by David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger of Skydance. The series also hails from the Japanese animation studio Production IG. The eight-episode series is the first anime in the Terminator franchise . Terminator Zero does not feature ties to franchise protagonists Sarah Connor and her son, John.

Every major network and streamer is searching for the next  Yellowstone. The Taylor Sheridan Western series is a ratings juggernaut and, thanks to its spin-offs, has its own television universe. Netflix will try to attract Yellowstone fans with its upcoming Western, Ransom Canyon, which finally has a trailer.
"In Ransom Canyon, everyone's running from something or running to something," Josh Duhamel's Staten Kirkland states in the trailer. Staten, a widower still grieving from the loss of his wife, owns the Double K Ranch of Texas Hill Country. Staten's way of life is threatened as competing families fight for control of the land. Despite the impending showdown, Staten tries to find love again with Quinn O’Grady (Minka Kelly), who returns to Ransom after a stint in New York to run the local dance hall.
With the battle for land combined with romance, Ransom Canyon mixes Yellowstone's drama with Virgin River's charm.

Besides Duhamel and Kelly, Ransom Canyon stars Lizzy Greene as Lauren Brigman, James Brolin as Cap Fuller, Eoin Macken as Davis Collins, Meta Golding as Paula Jo, Marianly Tejada as Ellie Catawnee, Jack Schumacher as Yancy Grey, Garrett Wareing as Lucas Russell, and Andrew Liner as Reid Collins.

In the teaser trailer released by Netflix, Happy is back on the golf course after years removed from the game. According to Happy, he hasn't swung a club in years. However, he must find that "happy place" and showcase that powerful drive when he plays against some of the best golfers in the world. Happy doesn't have to do it alone, as his love interest, Virginia Venit (Julie Bowen), stands by him and provides words of encouragement.
"We're not done with golf," Venit tells Happy. "Let them see the Happy I fell in love with."

Virginia is not the only character from the original returning for the sequel. Happy's rival, Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald), and the nursing home dictator Hal (Ben Stiller) appear in the teaser.
