One of the best sci-fi TV shows on Apple TV+ now has a release date

No streamer puts out more quality sci-fi TV shows than Apple TV+. This summer marks the arrival of Foundation season 3, a sci-fi series based on Isaac Asimov’s award-winning stories. The streamer unveiled the first teaser and release date for season 3, which continues the show’s propensity for expansive world-building and stunning visuals.

“War is upon us,” Hari Seldon (Jared Harris) says in the teaser. Set 152 years after the second season , season 3 picks up with a diminished Cleonic Dynasty and a more established Foundation. The two powers must align in their fight against The Mule (Pilou Asbæk), a ruthless warlord who plans to rule the universe through force and mind control. With so many moving pieces, Apple TV+ describes the upcoming season as a “deadly game of intergalactic chess.”

Season 3’s returning cast includes Harris as Hari Seldon, Lee Pace as Brother Day, Lou Llobell as Gaal Dornick, Cassian Bilton as Brother Dawn, Terrence Mann as Brother Dusk, Laura Birn as Demerzel, Leah Harvey as Salvor Hardin, and Rowena King as Kalle.

Season 3’s new additions are Asbæk, Cherry Jones, Brandon P. Bell, Synnøve Karlsen, Cody Fern, Tómas Lemarquis, Alexander Siddig, and Academy Award winner Troy Kotsur.

Foundation stems from executive producer David S. Goyer , a screenwriter best known for his work in two trilogies: Blade and The Dark Knight. Skydance Television produces Foundation for Apple.

Foundation is one of many popular sci-fi TV shows on Apple TV+. Severance is currently the most-watched show on Apple TV+ and one of the frontrunners to win in the dramatic categories at the 2025 Emmys. Silo, For All Mankind, Dark Matter, Invasion, and See are all sci-fi Apple shows that have aired multiple seasons.

Foundation season 3 premieres with one episode on Friday, July 11, on Apple TV+ . New episodes will be released weekly every Friday through September 12.

Former President Barack Obama almost took a job at Lumon Industries.

Severance executive producer Ben Stiller revealed on Monday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live that he asked Obama to appear in an episode of the hit Apple TV+ series. Stiller wanted Obama to provide the voice of the animated building for the Lumon is Listening video from season 2, episode 1. The role eventually went to Keanu Reeves, but Stiller explained that Obama received the offer first.
“There was one person that I asked before [Keanu Reeves], and he said no: President Barack Obama,” Stiller said.
Stiller, who serves as Severance's primary director, explained how he asked Obama to do the role via email.
“I didn't ask him in person. I knew someone who knew his lawyer, and his lawyer said I can relay the request if you write an email,” Stiller clarified to host Jimmy Kimmel. “So I wrote an email to him saying like, 'Hey we have this show,' whatever. And like two days later, I get an email back from President Barack Obama saying, 'Hey Ben. Big fan of the show. Love season 1. Can’t wait for season 2. Don’t think I have time in my schedule to make this happen.”

After two years in post-production, the Red Sonja reboot finally has an exciting update.

Per Deadline, Signature Entertainment has acquired the UK and Irish rights to Red Sonja. The film from Millennium Media is expected to be released later this year.
“Red Sonja epitomizes the kind of film we’re looking for at Signature – an epic story in a fantasy-laden world with a strong commercial feel to its execution, which made it immediately appealing to us," said Signature Entertainment’s Acquisitions Manager Begüm Kayacan Parodi in a statement. "We’re looking forward to introducing UK and Irish audiences to Matilda Lutz’s sword-swinging huntress later this year.”
Red Sonja is based on the comic book series by writer Roy Thomas and artist Barry Windsor-Smith. Robert E. Howard's Red Sonya of Rogatino in the short story The Shadow of the Vulture partially inspired Red Sonja. The fantasy movie follows Red Sonja, a barbarian huntress who united a group of warriors to take on the evil Dragan The Magnificent and his deadly bride, Dark Annisia.
Matilda Lutz headlines Red Sonja as the titular huntress. The rest of the ensemble includes Robert Sheehan, Wallis Day, Michael Bisping, Luca Pasqualino, Rhona Mitra, Martyn Ford, Ben Radcliffe, Eliza Matengu, Veronica Ferres, Phillip Winchester, and Trevor Eve.
